Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. has commercialized a block type "EMIFIL", BNX022 Series, surface mounting, EMI Suppression Filter suitable for noise suppression in DC power supply lines used in amusement equipment, industrial equipment, flat panel displays, IT equipment etc.
The thickness of the conventional BNX series is 13.5mm for the standard models (excluding the lead terminals) and 8mm for the low profile models.
With the BNX022 series, a thinner, revamped package with dimensions 12x9x3mm was realized due to advances made in the capacitor material and subsequent downsizing of components.
In spite of the smaller size, BNX022 offers large insertion loss in a wide frequency band range between 1MHz and 1GHz, which is roughly comparable with the conventional leaded BNX series. Consequently, BNX022 series is expected to have the highest level of noise suppression performance amongst the surface mount type products.
The BNX022 series consists of one part with a rated voltage of 50V and a rated current of 10A. This product does not contain materials regulated by the RoHS directive. Mass production of BNX022 will start from August 2005 at 300,000 units per month.
The BNX022 series will be exhibited at the Murata Manufacturing booth at "CEATEC2005" held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture starting on October 4.
Conventional noise suppression for large current rated (a few amperes) power supply lines for amusement equipment and industrial equipment has generally utilized leaded EMI Suppression Filters. However, surface mounted filters became in demand for such high current power supply lines due to the downsizing trend of circuit boards and also the reduced cost of parts used on the boards.
In order to address this user requirement, Murata Manufacturing has produced surface mounted EMI Suppression Filters from advances made in our capacitor material and terminal formation technology, as well as from using superior packaging.
This made it possible to replace the conventional leaded EMI Suppression Filters while still maintaining roughly the same level of performance, thereby contributing to a reduction in cost and mounting space.
